“The Comeback”

Shot on iPhone...shooting an iPhone.

How do you prove a smartphone is a professional camera? You use it to shoot a film about making a film.

The Comeback follows a group of misfit villagers determined to save their home by making it internet famous — blurring the lines between the story and the behind-the-scenes until you can't tell which is which. Kung fu, retro sci-fi, rural comedy — each genre a different chapter of their film, each showcase for what iPhone can do. We chose a local director specifically, because that kind of Chinese absurdist warmth needed someone who understood it from the inside.

We fought for the length. The pacing couldn't be rushed without losing what made it work. In the end it became a proper film — featured on Apple TV as exactly that.

Some projects you deliver. This one you fall in love with.
